Regulations
On the 6th November 2011will take place the sixth edition of the Etna Skyrace, that will be also the last stage of the Mountain Running International Cup – Grand Prix of the Nations 2011. The event is organized by ASD Sky Tribe and Mandala Tour, supported by Valetudo, in collaboration with Parco dell'Etna, Corpo Forestale Regionale, CAI and Guardia di Finanza. The aim of the competition is to promote the Etna National Park, so the course will cross the most attractive area of the highest volcano in Europe

Competition features
Men's and women's skyrace covers a dirt road on the Etna northern slope, with also many single tracks and beaten paths. The total elevation gain is about 1600 meter, while the elevation loss is 1900 meters, and the total course length is 24 km. The highest point is near Pizza Deneri, 2847 m. It is supposed temperature will drop around zero degree Celsius. with possible snowfalls, that is the reason why athletes must be trained and experienced in high altitude race. Are allowed to enter Etna Skyrace men and women over 18 year of age, owning valid agonistic health certificate, covering November 6, 2011. No more than 150 entrants allowed.

Ways of subscription
Fill in the on line form that you find on www.etnamarathon.it. The organization will not accept any e-mail registration or by telephone registration. Registration will close on 24th October 2011, or when reached 150 athletes registrations.
To enter Etna Skyrace is necessary:

Send the payment receipt
Send a copy of a valid agonistic health certificate, covering November 6, 2011.

Subscription fees
- 45 € up to 15th September, 2011
- 60 € from 16th September, 2011
Subscription fees include: numbers, baggage transport, shuttle service, pasta party.

Ways of payment
Only bank transfer payment accepted.

Required athletes equipment
Every entrant is supposed to have with him:
- at least 500 ml of water
- rain jacket
- thermic cover
- a food store
Whoever found without the required equipment will be disqualified, therefore random control will be done. In case of particular weather conditions the organization reserve the right to make changes to the required equipment list.

Timing
The time limit is 5 hours. A deadline time is expected after 3 hours from the starting time at Piano Provenzana, athletes who will arrive at Piano Provenzana after the deadline time could not carry on Etna Skyrace, they will give the numbers to the organization which will bring them to the arrival.

Award ceremony
The award ceremony will begin at 3 pm at the Ragabo refuge, Etna North slope. Money prizes will be given to the first overall entrants, men and women, of the Etna Skyrace.

Entry confirmation
It will be possible to verify your online entry on www.etnamarathon.com clicking on starting list 2011. Only athletes who have sent the required documentation will be in the starting list.

Numbers pick up
Numbers can be picked up at Citelli refuge November 6, 2011, from 7 am to 9.30 am. Athletes who do not pick up the number during this time will automatically excluded from the competition. Entrants must show their personal ID when picking up the number.

Meeting point
The organization provide a shuttle service from Ragabo refuge (arrival) to Citelli refuge (start). Entrants can book it sending an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Starting time is fixed Noveber 6, 2011, at 10 am from Citelli refuge.

Bags depot
The organization will provide a runners' bag transfer from the starting point to the arrival. Bags must only contain clothes for the post race changing. Runners can leave their own bags 10 minutes before the starting time, putting them in the bus trunk at the starting point at Citelli refuge. The organization is not responsible for the loss of bags or valuables or/and money, therefore, the organization suggestion is not to leave valuables inside the bags.

Check points
In order to make easier the data-gathering at the check points, the organization kindly asks to the entrants to make their number the more visible they can. We will really appreciate your collaboration.

Refreshment points
There will be 3 refreshment points: Pizzi Dineri (6 km) supplied with water, Piano Provanzana (11 km) supplied with water and food, Timparossa refuge (16 km) supplied with water.

Penalty and disqualification
Failure to offer assistance to an entrant in trouble: instant disqualification
Intentional litter throw: instant disqualification

Entrant cancellation
No refund allowed in case of entrant renunciation. The registration fee could be used for 2012 registration. The registration can not be used by a third party if not authorized by the organization.

Organization cancellation
The organization reserve the right to cancel the competition in case of unfavourable weather conditions, for the safety of entrants, their friends and the team. No refund allowed in case of cancellation.

Alternative course
The organization reserve the right to change the course without notice. In order to preserve everybody's safety, an alternative course will be take in case of unfavourable weather conditions in agreement with Alpine Aid and Corpo Forestale. Course cut: start from Citelli refuge, Monti Sartorius transit, Piano Provenzana, arrival at Ragabo refuge.
